About GAIT
GAIT is an Adaptive Riding Program located in the heart of wine country in beautiful Temecula, California. Our programs are customized for each client to support their personal goals. Lives are changed through the physical, cognitive, social, and emotional bond formed throughout the programs we offer. GAIT welcomes individuals of all abilities and is proud to call the esteemed Green Acres working horse ranch its home.
Equine Empowerment
Students with special needs forge meaningful connections with the animals. Horses in particular offer acceptance without judgment and ask only for kind words or a gentle pat on the neck in return. GAIT's outdoor setting encourages clients to be noisy, explore their surroundings, connect with nature, build relationships with animals, and, most importantly, and most of all develop lasting skills for a lifetime.
Decades in the making
Green Acres Interactive Therapy was started over 40 years ago by the founder Margaret Rich who was encouraged by her pediatrician father to start working with children with special needs. Located at Green Acres Ranch, GAIT become an established part of the ranch as the needs of the community continued to grow. Alongside the successful long standing lesson program, Interactive Therapy cemented Green Acres as the place where everyone could enjoy horses in a safe, friendly environment. In 2014 GAIT was granted our 501(c) (3) non-profit status.
